Answers about ordering farm-raised chickens from Deep South Soil. If you don’t see your question, reach out and we’ll help.
Deep South Soil is a small farm in Wills Point, Texas, focused on providing farm-fresh produce and protein for friends and family. We operate on a small, seasonal scale to ensure quality, care, and transparency in everything we raise and grow.
We are located on a small 10-acre farm just off FM-751 near Wills Point, TX. Pickup details will be shared closer to harvest time.
We raise farm-raised meat chickens selected for good growth, flavor, and quality. Chicken is a lean, high-protein food, typically providing 20–25g of protein per 4 oz serving, plus essential vitamins and minerals. At harvest, whole birds generally fall within a 4–6 lb average weight range, with natural variation.
Our chickens are raised in small, seasonal batches with attentive care and clean conditions. Details can vary by season — growth rate, final weights, timing, feed composition, and weather. Customers may take birds live or have them processed at no additional charge. Birds are provided fresh, not frozen.
This varies by season and conditions. Final average weights will be shared closer to pickup, with some natural variation expected.
Orders are accepted during announced Spring and Fall harvest cycles. When a batch is open, the order form will be available on the website.
You may order as many birds as you’d like, subject to availability. Each batch is limited, and orders may close once capacity is reached.
There’s no formal minimum or maximum right now, but large orders may be confirmed manually.
If capacity is reached, we may stop accepting orders or place additional requests on a waitlist.
Each bird costs $20 total: $10 deposit per bird at signup, and $10 per bird due at pickup.
Payments are made directly to the Deep South Soil Venmo Business account or via cash.
The deposit is expected after you submit your order form to reserve your birds.
Venmo is preferred, but cash is also accepted. Other options, if available, will be communicated directly.
